Heavy duty brass snaps keep the adjustable belt secured around your waist, or slung over your shoulder cross-body style (I prefer to wear mine cross-body when I'm on my bike).
 Under the big leaf flap are two pockets.  The larger open pocket is big enough for a smaller notebook or field guide, reusable cutlery, a small bottle of sunscreen and any other random things you might need for day to day.  The smaller pocket zippers shut to keep things like money and ID more safe and secure.  The little leaf pocket is an open pocket and works great for lip balm, matches, or wildcrafting material for making cordage (as one does).
